A Tale of Silent Affection and Distant Smiles

Even if you're far away, let your smile remain,

And may your joy, like whispers, reach me again.

Time, as ever, will pass on by,

Night will surrender to morning’s sky.

Amidst the heap of memories old,

Ours were but threads of gold.

Yet, within your heart, I hope you'll keep,

Those fragile memories that gently sweep.

There was something I longed to hold,

A spark, a fire, a courage bold—

To win your heart in this fleeting hour,

But to claim you seemed beyond my power.

Though I had begun to speak at last,

I’d retreat, shy, let the moment pass,

Sit alone and dream in vain,

Would you ever take my hand, or feel the same?

But while I pondered night after night,

The chance slipped further out of sight.

If only I’d spoken back then, who knows,

Perhaps these words would not now compose.

I know, I see, the fault is mine,

If I had told you, shown you a sign—

That I liked you, wished to make you mine,

Would that too have been a mistake of mine?

But now, what matters—come what may,

I’ve learned to let life have its way.

So, let me say it, let me be clear:

Yes, I like you, and I hold you dear.

In joy or sorrow, I wish to stay,

To be the friend who lights your way.

To make you laugh, to feel your scorn,

To share your life, from dusk till dawn.

And if you let me, with all my heart,

I’d love you, and never part.

Yes, I've said it, spoken my truth,

That’s all I wished to share with you.

Even if silence is what you send,

Stay far, but smile—on that, depend.

And let your joy, like distant stars,

Keep reaching me, no matter how far.
