Where Mornings Go

Time of forgiveness

By Amy ChristiePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Each morning is a fresh chance

to love, to smile,

to say kind words.

What if you didn’t get

the sunshine

that always greets windows

and stayed still

in the darkness

long after nighttime passed?

***

Would you still feel the hope

that guides you to amaze

help,

and be gentle

or would you pause it all

waiting for that one glimmer,

sun telling it’s all back,

ready to add

new drops of affection

into the chilly gray beginning

of another day?

***

Take solace in each morning,

it may not be there for all time

but those first hours of the day,

they cheer soul and mind

they bring love back

from heartache abyss,

they help you see how thankful

you need to be

for everything you have

and hold.

***

The hands that reach out

to give hugs,

the smiles

that meet your own

voices singing along,

laughter that completes

your own tune,

the one you find

when you have traveled

for days, months, into years

of longing to be home

and see everyone happy,

once again

around the same table

with light of a beginning.

***

One morning when you wake up

go down the stairs

to find them

having tea,

your place known at the table

belonging to this life,

the family and friends

you care for

and will always

love you back.
