When You First Looked At Me

You stood there like the world had paused,

Like every sound had lost its cause,

And in that space between the air,

I felt you noticing me there.

It was not loud, it was not fast,

Not something made to ever last,

Just quiet movement in your gaze,

That left me standing in a daze.

The light around you softened time,

Like everything was in its prime,

And I could feel, without a word,

A change inside me just occurred.

You did not rush, you did not play,

You simply let the moment stay,

And somehow that was all I knew,

That something new was breaking through.

We walked along a simple street,

Where strangers sometimes used to meet,

But every step I took with you,

Became a different world I knew.

You brushed your hand against my own,

And in that touch I was not alone,

It did not ask, it did not prove,

It only let my heart now move.

And when I think of where it starts,

Of how you slipped into my parts,

I know that nothing felt the same,

From just the moment you became.
