When You Ask Her
Understand how to hear the words she won’t speak.
When you ask her to tell her story, be patient when she cries. Try to understand the reason she’s built up her wall and created this disguise.
When you ask her to let you in, allow her to tell you about the heartache she’s endured, and the war she fights within.
When you ask her why she seems so sad, please try to remember she put on her best face just to make you glad.
When you ask her about her frustration and she replies “it’s nothing” understand that her exasperated sighs are hopes you’ll realize it’s something.
When you ask her if she’s okay, she’ll always reply “I’m fine” try to remember she’s never at peace with a storm inside her mind.
She’s a lot to handle, at times she’s a broken mess, but she’ll give you everything she has and take whatever’s left. So when you ask her to bare her soul, learn to read what she’s buried beneath. Because she’ll never reveal what she keeps hidden so deep.
About the Creator
Brandi Culotta
I love poetry, I just recently picked writing back up after several years. The mindset of a woman who’s been broken is a powerful thing. I write from my heart and it can be raw and real.
