When Whispers the Wind

I remember, but was it real

When whispered the wind

Upon that summer breeze

I heard his voice

Cry out to me.

The news we heard

Of his demise

Crushed our spirits

Our souls, our lives.

Our faith in God

Was torn apart

Our faith in man

Broke our heart.

When whispered the wind

I prayed to hear

The words he spoke

Not disappear.

Yet in a moment

They fade away

Leaving me alone

To curse and pray.

To soon was he taken

From his family

His pregnant wife, his child to be

Eyes of his shall never see.

Alone I sat

Upon the shore

Yet all was silent

Forever more.

Gone he’s now

For many a year

Still at times

I do hear

I feel the brush

Upon my skin

I fear the voice

Of the whispering wind.

On August 30th 1989 my wife and I were on holidays when we recieved word of my cousins death. No information other than he was gone. I went for a walk and found a park. While I sat upon a bench, it was there I heard his voice.

I shared with my wife what he told me of his death. Which, upon our return home, was accurate.

I am unwilling to share more at this time perhaps one day. Other than to say he was more than a cousin, he was my brother.

if the wind should whisper

when it blows your way

what will you hear

what will it say.
