When the earth becomes flat

When the earth was round,

People were trusting.

.

When the earth becomes flat,

Some people will become crazy.

.

Some people will think the sky will fall, or the ground will crack and swallow us all, or the earth will catch on fire — though, in some places, that’s what the woods acquired.

.

Some people won’t conform to society, some people won’t follow nor lead, some people won’t believe anything you say until they see it on their good days.

.

One approval will result in many, when I look up, others will do from where they’re standing. One opinion will be hard to get out when other opinions get too loud.

.

Whenever we drive,

Some people will be unlucky.

.

Some will race like their lives are long, some will blare their upbeat songs, or they will honk without a thought, by the time danger lurks, our trust will be lost.

.

Some accidents happen like that, some good drivers will have these odds stacked, I’ll follow the rules and do my part but if others won’t follow, I’d be back to the start.

.

One car will mislead many, the road will be promising when bending, a good day will deceive the eyes, no one will think if we all think alike.

.

Once I begin to teach,

Some teachers will be suave.

.

A teacher will be a rock and a vision, an actor and a magician, an embodiment of human limitations. Those who do their occupation as a nonchalant business will be called to inspire thinking as parrots without reasoning.

.

One glance will say it all, whether you break or build a wall, when the class grows silent out of respect or spite, their eyes will be on you so you decide.

.

Some teachers will lead with their eyes stern, others will guide and wonder and learn, when a question emerges the teacher will fume or spot a genius in the classroom.

.

I think a lot about skies falling, driving and teaching. I will stand lined up and the line will zig-zag like a maze and I will think about mice experiments and a groupthink case. I will wonder about the implications of 99 percent, how bad things happen to good men and good things happen to bad men. I will think about the cycle of history only to realize that the earth is flat and I am crazy.

Author's Note:

This video was narrated by myself. I'm questioning reality as we know it. What's real and what isn't? Who do we trust? How can one single (different) perspective change our reality? Those were the questions running through my head while creating this poem.
