When Joy

Learned Our Names

By Printique StudiosPublished 9 months ago • 1 min read

The moment you stepped into my day,

everything brightened without asking,

as if the world finally remembered

how to open its eyes.

You laughed,

and something uncomplicated rose in me,

a warmth I tried to hide

but couldn’t keep still.

It felt almost electric,

almost reckless,

like sunlight tripping across my skin

and choosing not to stop.

I kept stealing glances,

trying to understand why your presence

made the air feel lighter,

why every small gesture

pulled me closer to your orbit.

Maybe it was the way you moved,

easy, unhurried,

like you trusted the ground

to meet you every single time.

And quietly,

so quietly I almost missed it,

something shifted.

Not a break,

not a pause,

just a soft turning inside me

that said,

This isn’t a moment passing.

This is something beginning.

Suddenly,

your hand brushing mine

felt like the world clearing a path,

and the glow between us

stretched wider than the sky.

I didn’t have to explain it,

you felt it too,

that shared lift,

that sweet, rising pull

as if everything good

finally remembered where to land.

Now, being near you

feels like standing in a place

where light doesn’t fade,

where love lifts itself

with no effort at all,

carrying both of us

into something new and impossibly bright.
