When It Rains, It Roars

What Am I? Leslie's Unofficial Challenge

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 4 months ago • 1 min read

**

inconspicuously rolling down the window sill

one bead into another

continuing to grow at will

a creature from inclement weather

a rumble or two like thunder

to display it's discontent

disguised perfectly, keeping under

the radar in my head, for rent

changing its shape at leisure

to keep our fears at ease

it seems we are much tastier

when we are kept at peace

a monster in the making

but we are lulled, completely clueless

a midnight snack just for the taking

as rain cyclopes' drain our juices

it's been going on for decades

as the storms billow and pass

peeking in the window shades

sliding stealth like, down the glass

you'll never see it coming

they wait until the lightning strikes

so unbelievably cunning

they can devour you in just one bite

so when the clouds get heavy

and the sprinkles start to drop

to save things from getting messy

you'd better run and get your mop
