When I Wonder for the Tears
A Poem
Sometimes, I wonder…
Why can't the good times ever last?
Why can't we stay where we are as we are?
In that very moment when our hearts are joyful
And our souls are glad?
Sometimes, I wonder…
Why must our happiness always give way to grief?
Why must a flower wither and the grasses weep?
In that very moment when the heart is torn
And the soul must mourn?
Ah, such are the times where we all must pass
In this valley of tears where good things never last…
We laugh for a moment and we cry in the night;
We struggle in darkness as we search for the light.
I need not wonder why all things come to an end
For such is what happens just around the bend.
Have we not met at a place that is not yet our home?
One day we shall find where we truly belong.
