When I Get Home

It's not just a place

I breathe a sigh as I get there,

Kick off my shoes, let down my hair.

I wander on and find my guy;

As I get there, I breathe a sigh

This home's been ours for many years.

We've shared in joys, we've shared in tears.

This life of seconds, minutes, hours...

For many years, this home's been ours.

We've watched each other grow with grace,

Each new gray hair, each wrinkled face.

The future's still not ours to know...

With grace, we've watched each other grow.

Through love, he keeps my heart from harm.

I lay there, safe against his arm.

I love the life we're both part of.

He keeps my heart from harm through love.
