What Lurks Beneath Reality

Darkness and fear

What Lurks Beneath Reality

Reality wears a smile.
Soft upon its face.
Darkness waits beneath.
Hidden without trace.

Every mirror knows.
More than it will show.
Silent figures pass.
Where no shadows go.

Empty rooms still breathe.
Though no soul is there.
Whispers drift like smoke.
Through the freezing air.

Footsteps cross the floor.
Long after the light.
Someone calls your name.
Deep within the night.

Windows softly stare.
Like forgotten eyes.
Watching every fear.
Wrapped in dark disguise.

Time begins to bend.
Nothing feels the same.
Clocks forget to move.
Yet they call your name.

Moonlight hides the truth.
Wrapped in silver flame.
Every winding path.
Leads where none should claim.

Dreams refuse to end.
Morning cannot stay.
Night keeps pulling back.
What dawn steals away.

Cold unseen hands reach.
Just beyond your skin.
Waiting patiently.
For your fear within.

Truth is dressed in lies.
Lies are dressed in grace.
Nothing wears its own.
True and honest face.

Lift the final veil.
If you dare to see.
What has always lived.
Beneath reality.

Should the silence smile.
Do not ask it why.
Some things walk unseen.
Never live… nor die.
