What If

It Ruptured

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

What if the words my mouth holds, ruptured

and all my thoughts came spilling out

Would it tear down this infrastructure

like a busted sieve or waterspout

What would it change, if I broke open

pouring my feelings on the ground

If my silence was finally broken

filling the silence, with my sound

What if I said the things kept hidden

told everybody what you did

Would you come crawling for forgiveness

with the truth no longer hid

What if I painted a word picture

of the things you've said and done

Revealed your words, your holy scripture

unload your weaponized, word gun

Fill the room with bullet holes

allowing the facts to breathe the air

Freeing my tortured, burdened soul

spraying my story everywhere

What if the devil bowed his head

admitting the part he had to play

Revelled with glee, each time I bled

as your angels, you betrayed

What I would give to see your face

as your walls come tumbling down

But, I won't let you steal my peace

amazing grace holds those things now
