What Can You Say

Life…….

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

If you would’ve told me that when I got older

I would be all alone looking over my shoulder

Checking the mirror, finding a stranger in my skin

Wanting desperately to be me

but not knowing where to begin

If you would’ve told me, the laughter would fade

That I would sit in regret, over mistakes that I’ve made

That the big dreams I had when I was a kid

Would wither and fade because of things that I did

If you would’ve told me that I would keep my mouth shut

Allowing things to transpire becoming what I’ve become

It’s gotten to the point I feel out of control

So bad in fact, the devil won’t buy my soul

I guess the only good thing that comes from this deal

Is when you ask what I think the answer will be real

I said some things here that don’t make me feel proud

Just a few of the things that we don’t say out loud
