Here on this battlefield called WestBlock,
the troops have stood.
Enduring this long and treacherous journey,
together as soldiers.
We have held our ground,
our commander teaching us integrity, strength, and courage.
Today a dark cloud looms over us,
for today a command post is being left empty.
We are not weakened by fear or doubt in our abilities,
but rather saddened by the impeding dust-off of our leader.
Our distress emerges from an apprehension of an improper send off,
for the Hickey era has come to an end.
The thundering echo of the 21-gun salute,
will not be heard today.
Instead we will use our well wishes and our words of thanks,
to express the honour and respect we have for you.
The silent grief of flags flown at half mast,
will not be seen today.
Instead we will raise our glasses to you,
to properly express the weight this loss will have on us.
In your wake will remain a resonating silence,
that will only be deafened by the whispers,
of HOOAH that will flow through our minds.
You, our teacher, mentor, leader, and friend
shall always remain in high regard.
And us, we will always remain,
Your army, your West Block Warriors.
