We all drop the ball on big things sometimes,
Said as casually and confidently as the approach of winter.
It was a fact.
An undeniable, approaching force of truth.
We all drop the ball on big things sometimes,
Rushing over the burns in my chest like ice water.
The pain stopped.
For a second, a minute, an hour the pain of guilt fell away.
We all drop the ball on big things sometimes.
Don't we?
The why doesn't matter in the simplicity in a statement like that
Because blame never floats into the conversation.
We all drop the ball on big things sometimes
Because despite our best efforts,
We are imperfect.
And we will drop the ball someday on something but that's alright because
We all drop the ball...sometimes.
