We've Arrived...But Where Are We?
The way that was no longer is
From cave dwellers,
To wild, warring societies,
To hard working, industrious peoples,
To thinkers, tinkers, and inventors of great things.
So much we have done.
So far we have come.
And yet still so very far from where we should be.
Each generation plots and plans a course
And off we go with certainty
That we are bound for horizons of bounty
But where are we once we arrive?
On yet another precipice
Another divide to conquer
With the destination moved to yet a new horizon of bounty
The way that was no longer is
So forward we must go.
A new generation steps forward fraught with disdain for the old ways
And ripe with ideas to move towards a better future.
Not always better for all though, like one would think,
Just a shifting of who is in and who is out.
What is currently politically correct and what is not.
And so the power shifts, because that is all that is.
It never gets better for all, only different.
We can only hope to survive each wave of difference
And be the best version of ourself we can through it all.
