We Rage

Seduced by a false sense of empowerment,

Our anger comforts us and soothes us

Seemingly giving us otherworldly strength

As it feeds our self-image with the affirmation

That we are Right

That we are Perfect

That we are Good

It slithers around our souls

Compelling us to misinterpret

It’s hot virulent, destructive heat

As loving nurturing warmth

Making us feel good about ourselves

Flushing our veins with it’s

Overwhelming addictive

Sense of liberation

Making us feel good and invincible

With its false sense of reality

This illusion of empowerment

And the deception it surrounds us with

Leading us to believe we can control it,

Thinking we can harness its power

For our own self fulfilment and benefit

But like a wild stallion anger will throw

Any would-be master from its back

Rage is a dangerous hungry beast

More powerful and sinister than any mortal

It will devour your essence and feed off your ego

Until there is nothing left but an empty shell

That once housed hope, compassion and the promise

Of love

Instead, we rage
