WE LOVED BEFORE THE WORLD HAD A NAME

I met you at a railway station,
One cold November night,
Yet something in your gentle eyes,
Made everything feel right.

You looked at me like you knew me,
From somewhere long ago,
I asked if we had ever met,
You smiled and whispered, “So.”

“We loved before the world had names,
Before the stars could shine,
You placed your soul inside my hands,
And promised to be mine.”

I laughed and said, “You’re strange indeed,
I’ve never seen your face,”
But suddenly my heart remembered,
Another time and place.

I seen us by an ancient sea,
Beneath a violet moon,
You promised if we lost our way,
You’d come and find me soon.

I seen a cottage in the woods,
A candle burning bright,
I died inside your loving arms,
One snowy winter night.

I seen us in a castle tower,
While ravens crossed the sky,
You kissed my trembling fingertips,
And begged me not to die.

The visions disappeared again,
The station came in view,
But deep inside my waking soul,
I knew that they were true.

We spent this life together,
Until your hair turned grey,
Then death came like a silent thief,
And carried you away.

The night you left this earthly world,
You held my hand so tight,
And said, “I’ll meet you at the station,
Upon another night.”

So I am not afraid of death,
Or where my soul may roam,
For you have found me every life,
And you will lead me home.

Yet something in your gentle eyes,
