We Have a Fire
As a woman and human, I unkindly will say...
When April comes and the marches end, I remember how it feels to have to pretend.
To pretend that we're equal, To pretend that we're protected.
To pretend that We The People will remain connected.
When the flags go away and the history forgotten, I remember how it feels to be near the bottom.
The bottom of respect, The bottom of control.
We have to accept that in the depths of our soul.
Here we are, in the year '22, when women's bodies belong to you.
Our bodies are beauty, Our bodies are temples
But you make it your duty to set an example.
The example that women, no matter their fight
Have no business to fight for their rights.
As a woman and human, I unkindly will say, that you as a man should stay far away.
Because we will not tire, and we will not hide.
We have a fire and we wear it with pride.
So take no as no, and leave us alone. Your words mean nothing to us, just small sticks and stones.
