We Got Another Dog

a poem for those more alike than different

By Anna CunninghamPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

She wouldn't smile,

Maya-Dog

so I made it a point to dance with her

Frenetically,

around the living room

to new and classic hits.

I sang to her, too

mostly songs made up

for you

but that fit her better

my video amassed thousands of views on Tik Tok

of a lullaby

written for Kate,

who is long-gone now.

Now,

....Maya smiles now.

Whole-face grins

that send wrinkles up to her eyebrows-

We got another dog.

Sad Eyes-

are we more Alike than Different?

or do you need another one of You, too?

to Grin.
