We don’t make sense

To the rest of the world, anyway

Unusual was where you came from -

For years of my life

your world was so far away

What brought you to me?

Unlikely was our meeting -

I almost stayed home

that day, yet my mind whispered

“something is coming!”

Unexpected was our immediate spark -

I noticed you first;

Wavy black hair, your touch was

strong, yet, so gentle.

Untainted was our happiness -

“What are you doing?”

“Couples like you don’t work out.”

“Way too different.”

Unshakeable was our resolve -

Uncertainty aches

How much longer will this take?

I’m scared, my love.

Unrestrained was our joy -

We did it, my love!

For your safety, your freedom.

You’re here with me now.

Unbelievable was the person I found in you -

You exceeded all,

all of what I imagined:

Strength, patience, and love.

Unwavering is my commitment to you -

You were mine before

I met you, and you are mine

Now and forever.

Uncommon was us.

Uncommon is us.
