We Can't Be Than We Are Made

We can't be greater than we are made.

But we want no longer be less.

Yes when I dream of human beings

being as the human sooner or later fulfilled,

every member of our predicted species

then knows that existence without

conflict has constantly been fantasy,

a conjuring of Utopia impossible amid a universe propelled

ever with the aid of the myriad colliding streams of necessity.

Nature’s legacy to human beings is conflict, oh yes,

but warfare resolved by way of reason is humanity’s present to nature.

In this world I dream about judgment will almost

balance out emotion, the angers and fears of this moment dissolving quickly in the wisdom

of the next. We can't be greater than we are made. But we want now not be less.

As an baby develops to a child who a long time to an adult

who may additionally evolve to a human being questioning and wise,

so humanity nevertheless toddles toward our maturity, wobbling step by

faltered step in the long lengthy childhood.
