Watching leafs in the winter rain

To anxious to go home

Watching leafs in the winter rain

I sit here on a park bench,

cold, wet, and all alone,

Not wanting to go home,

Can’t face another argument.

My body tired and weak

I keep turning the other cheek.

So I sit, watching leaves

blowing on the ground, all alone.

My brain hurts with the misery,

I feel like I am getting way too old.

All I want’s a peaceful, safe life,

Not money, riches, or gold.

My body aches, the bruises sting,

My tears fall like winter rain.

The problem is, I love you so,

So I live through all this pain.

I will go home now to twenty questions—

Where have I been and who with?

Who have I seen? He won’t believe me,

So he will lash out.

My life flows past me now,

Just like a film on a TV screen.

God help me, keep me safe,

Don’t let him hurt me anymore.

I don’t know where to go

Or what to do today.

But I know I can’t sit here forever.

The rain falls, the wind blows,

And somewhere, beyond this moment,

I know There must be something more.
