WAR ON VETERAN

FIGHT OR FLIGHT

WAR ON VETERAN

In the quiet hours, when the world sleeps,

A veteran's soul silently weeps.

For in the echoes of battles fought,

Lies the burden of wars, dearly bought.

Through fields of fire, they marched with pride,

Shoulders bearing burdens they could not hide.

But as they returned from lands afar,

They carried scars, both seen and marred.

The weight of memories, heavy as lead,

Haunts their dreams, fills them with dread.

The cries of comrades, lost in the fray,

Echo in their minds, day after day.

For war leaves wounds that never truly heal,

A silent torment, impossible to conceal.

The sights they've seen, the horrors endured,

Leave them broken, their spirits obscured.

They may wear medals upon their chest,

But it's the scars within that never rest.

The stress of war, a relentless tide,

That threatens to consume them from inside.

Yet amidst the darkness, there lies a glimmer of light,

For in the hearts of veterans burns a fight.

They may be battered, they may be worn,

But their resilience shines, like the break of dawn.

So let us honor those who've borne the weight,

Of wars that leave scars, both early and late.

For their sacrifice, their courage true,

Is a testament to the strength within me and you.
