Waning light

The musings of a classical poet watching the eclipse

Eventually, all will fade and wane.

Cold snows will thaw and ash remain of flame.

Like it or not, joy often ends with pain

In our lives. And yet, we strive again,

Pining for something that can we can retain.

Sun's light gets weak as darkness starts its reign.

Eventually, all will fade and wane.

Really lovely! Great use of form! I always admire use of iambic! I try but my poetry professor’s feedback was always to regularize my meter so I clearly wasn’t too committed. But like with yours I appreciate the deviation! I think perfectly consistent iambic can get a little lulling

Sad but beautifully rendered. You've penned such tenderness. Loved your poem.

Oh...this made me feel like I had come across some old scribblings on a piece of parchment or something. Great job, Katarzyna! Really loved this take on the challenge!

I’ve been forcing myself to delve into some of Shakespeare’s poetry as of late and I immediately recognized the form, so unique and nice to see it in a modern contextualization! Amazing work ♥️

This is my attempt at a iambic pentameter, a very classical form. The rhythm varies though which, I hope, makes reading more interesting. As a sidenote: I'm not that pessimistic in real life!
