Wandering Warrior’s

*inverse*

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

there’s a hard protective shell

guarding the softness of the heart

from the wound's I hide so well

a guardhouse crafted from the start

*

shielding my steps in the shadows

images of angels on the wall

battered and bruised, faithfully follow

wherever I wander down the hall

*

spirits linger, gliding freely

in a flash of my illusion

a black star rises from the heat

signaling a calm and sure conclusion

Nicely encapsulated, Kelli. I give you a star for this one. (Depending, of course, upon which direction we're reading.)

Loved the adherence to rhyme! Not easy to do in an inverse!

Very impressive! I'm finding the inverse pretty difficult, personally, but you mastered it!
