Wallabies Wander… Cockatoos Caper!

Aussie Abecedarian poem

Awesome Australia will always amaze

Black Swans glide, Brolgas dance… Blue-Tongued Lizards sleepily laze.

Cockatoos caper; Saltwater Crocodiles lurk neath towering Cooktown Orchids.

Dingoes prowl in a pack... they howl, but rarely bark.

Emus lope like lanky legged lads; Echidnas snuffle out where ants have hid.

Flies, bloomin’ flies, make the Aussie salute common!

Great Barrier Reef… a coral kaleidoscope for Clown Fish and delightful Dolphin.

Harbour bridge, The Coat-hanger gracefully arches o’er Sydney's Parramatta River … pearly shelled Opera House is a close neighbour.

Inland Lake Eyre… salt pan fills… changes into a vast pink lake.

Jellyfish… Bluebottle; Irukandji… Oh, what pain they do make!

Kookaburras laugh, Koalas doze, scarlet King Parrots soar as breeze blows.

Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo climbs rainforest trees while joey nestles in pouch.

Mud Crabs cling onto unwary fingers… OUCH!

Numbat… endangered, striped marsupial.

Octopus with beautiful blue rings… oh so shy but lethal!

Platypus with duck bill and beaver tail, paddle along a freshwater stream…

Quokkas, so cute, roam Rottnest Island as moon beams gleam.

Red-bellied Black Snake also shy… unlike deadly Taipan, lurking nearby!

Spiders galore… Redbacks; Funnel-webs and so many more!

Tasmanian Penguins waddle around… smallest in the world to be found.

Uluru… what a sight! Huge monolith… red, orange, purple… many a hue!

Vegemite, so salty and black; Violet Crumble makes the lips smack!

Wallabies and Wombats wander... amid fragrant Golden Wattle.

X-treme weather events… bushfires; droughts; floods and cyclones full throttle.

Yellow sand bakes along serpentine shores... where crashing surf breaks.

Zillions of zestily zinging things… make living Down Under such a wonder!

I love this, Australia definitely wins when it comes to weird and wonderful creatures 😁 Quokkas are the ones that chuck their babies at predators so they can escape, aren't they? I've never heard of Numbats before, so thank you! Have you read The Last Continent
