Walking With Forgiveness

Not easy

I was walking down the dirt path with Unforgiveness,

all the while, it felt like a dreadful illness.

Then Inspiration struck like lightning,

oh, how alarming and frightening!

Inspiration had dropped Forgiveness from the sky,

not yet quite understanding why.

Forgiveness dropkicked Unforgiveness down a cliff,

and the birds began to sing a joyous-chorus riff.

Now, walking with Forgiveness, my legs are getting tired,

but he picks me up, because otherwise, I would have expired.

We make it home and Forgiveness stays at the door,

wanting him to come in, but he doesn't, no matter how much I implore.

"You've got this," he says and starts to walk away,

oh, how I truly wish he would, forever, stay!

But, I wave him farewell and sit down at the table inside,

not feeling easy, or very satisfied.

Blinking, I see the table is set with a full spread,

grabbing the warm, home-made, buttered bread,

to my right is Redemption smiling proudly,

all the while merry bells in my mind rang quite loudly.
