Waiting

___By Aranna Hasan Delwar.

When there's a storm all around, and the dark night is without electricity,

All light has been taken away,

Then I am terribly alone, awake within four walls,

While the people of the whole world have lost themselves

In a deep, peaceful sleep, with no sign of any life awake anywhere,

Still, my mind remains waiting...

This waiting is full of agony, extreme pain,

Someone was supposed to come but never returns,

They vanish, cutting off all means of communication,

No trace of them can be found anywhere,

Then the agony of waiting intensifies, deep within the heart

An eruption of a volcano begins,

Burning the lush green forest with its scorching lava.

The darkness breaks, and the light of dawn rises,

The entire city's alleys are submerged in water,

I slowly step out from within the four walls,

The sight of white clouds drifting across the rainy sky

Seems immensely beautiful.

Yet my heart's depths remain submerged in darkness,

The light that once illuminated my mind

Took everything with it upon departure,

Now, nothing remains for me but emptiness
