A Villanelle for Something Lost

Those moments when We made the world seem whole.

It burns so brief, that True Love felt inside.

As always, though, The Madness takes its toll.

.

It’s magic, the way two become one soul,

Resolved, together, to no longer hide.

Those moments when We made the world seem whole.

.

Your voice, Your touch becomes my daily goal,

Reaching across a space near, far, and wide.

As always, though, The Madness takes its toll.

.

Laughing so hard can make you lose control.

Chaotic longing, Kismet is Our guide.

Those moments when We made the world seem whole.

.

But Fear takes hold, we lose sight of the goal.

What once was grand now drifts off in the tide.

As always, though, The Madness takes its toll.

.

I see it now, from deep within my hole,

The toxic way We sickened ‘ere we died.

Those moments when We made the world seem whole.

As always, though, The Madness takes its toll.

I agree with Joe, a melancholic tune played in my head as I read this. Devastatingly beautiful.

This sounds great, I still have not figured it out beyond nineteen lines. So bravo to you J.
