Verses of the Gallows
He wrote her name in every line,
Each word a thread of love and fire,
The ink turned poison over time
Desire warped into barbed-wire.
He saw her laugh with someone new,
A man too bold, with eyes too proud.
The poet burned, his fury grew,
He heard his rage inside him loud.
One shot. One scream. The silence bled.
His rival’s heart now still and red.
The poet stood, gun shaking, wild
No art can save a murderous child.
They found him with a bloodstained page,
A sonnet torn by jealous hands.
The law came down like winter’s cage.
No room for love that disobeys.
He dangled by a fraying rope,
His final breath a shattered rhyme.
The crowd just stared. No one spoke.
A poet hung, for love and crime.
