Verbal Daggers

(A first draft but one of my favorites)

By Isabella WalkerPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

My world shatters

when your tongue throws it’s dagger

piercing my heart

in its torn parts

—

Don’t worry though

i‘ll sew up my wounds

so the blood dripping from my core

doesn’t bother you anymore

and you put away your swords

—

You said the hurt was done for

you’re sorry

there will be no more

As I’m bent over scrubbing the stain

left from the blood of my pain

—

Yet the knives fly again

into unhealed scars

but instead of my heart

I’ll sew up my ears

and finally leave you in tears

—

The mess of shattered glass

your job to clean up

forevermore
