Ventriloquism for Royalty
Royal Voices – part VI - With MC and Kelli

She picked the toad statue up off the floor,
stuffed it in a dresser drawer.
She then turned her attention to the box
that spilled its contents as it dropped.
An amulet of amethyst,
obsidian in a saline mist,
a message engraved on a golden key,
in a language poor Ingrit could not read.
She ran quickly to the locked truck,
where inside, the shrew and raven were stuck.
As she was about to step inside,
a vision came to Ingrit’s mind.
She saw the toad in its pleading tone,
just before it turned to stone.
The toad, it asked her for a kiss,
and begged of her not to dismiss
the truth she felt within her heart;
that voice she knew, the missing part.
She hurried back to the dresser drawer;
retrieved the toad, laid it on the floor,
then on its cheek, Ingrit placed a kiss
which surrounded them both in swirling mist.
And when the mist did clear the air,
in the toad’s stead was standing there,
Ingrit’s long-lost brother Myles,
his uniform as sparkling as his smile.
Ingrit let out a joyous scream,
which came out as a croak it seemed.
“Don’t worry, Sis, we’ll make it right.
On that shrew and raven, revenge comes tonight.”
