** Disclaimer: Some of the poetry in this series may contain references to self-harm and suicide as well as strong language. All work is written by me from 2009-2012, ages 15-18. Some can be found in my book, Memories of a Troubled Teen by Paige Guffey, available on Amazon. **

The one who’s standing there, holding her bleeding heart,

She’s the one you killed.

Your words left her dead inside,

While she laid awake at night and cried.

A user, you say,

The words, they won’t go away.

She trusted you with everything,

Her secrets, her doubts, her memories.

But you want to believe everyone else.

She wanted to tell you where it all went wrong.

But you were never hers, never at all.

The realization hit her square in the face,

While her heart it shattered, all over the place.

Mistaken once but mistaken no more,

She’ll never let her heart belong you you again.

She’s locked up the pieces, locked them up tight.

And tonight’s the night, she finally won’t cry.
