Something Hiding In the Shadows
With A Sharp Knife To Strip Your Flesh
Something Round The Corner Unknown
Will Leave Your Body In A Mess

Something Living In The Cellar
Waiting Til You Feel You Are Safe
Will Come At Night With A Crowbar
For All Your Fragile Bones To Break

An Unknown Silent Assailant
Will Strike And Make You Scream In Pain
Your Blood Will Flow And Stain The Floor
You Will Be Dead, Not Reach The Door

That essential, sparkling you that you only reveal to a select few. Had I been paying more attention to the stories you are so fond of telling, in which you are invariably author, narrator and protagonist, I would not have been so foolish as to set you up on a blind date. After all, no friend has ever done anything of the kind for another. Thatβs preposterous. What is a friend, really?

I do have a fear of the unknown but it's more like anxiety rather than fear. Loved this poem!
