Full Moon Challenge: ‘My Dream of Love’
Drifting off to sleep under a full moon
I become paralyzed
Stiffen by the temporary death of self
My soul expels
Now freed from my mortal shell
I find myself floating on clouds
Seemingly unreal
In the astral realm
And now removed from my place of rest
I venture further into the cosmos
Drifting amongst the stars alone
Or so I believed He to be…
That is until
I saw
Her
The brightest and morning star
A giant woman
Celestial in nature
Colossal in stature
She sat the highest
And she shined the brightest
Like a beacon
Beckoning me
She called to me
Naturally
Attracting me
Something like gravity
Leading me
Patiently
Across time and space
Pulling me closer to on our destiny
Because as fate would have it
Our souls were meant to meet
And unmeet
Just to remeet faithfully
time and time again
I’d known where to find you instinctively
And you’d known where to find me
So no matter where our souls drifted
Our meeting would occur undoubtedly
Now coincidentally
As fate would have it
Once more
It was our time to meet
Here in this dream
In the place in between
Eyes closed
Heart open
I hear your calling
I feel you on me
Pulling me
Closer and closer
To your energy
Oh!
To the Divine Mother
Oh!
My heavenly other
My beautiful Goddess…
I feel her beckoning in sleep
She calls to me to ascend even in dream
To return
Home
Not to a place
Not to a thing
But to us
To Love…
My beautiful,
Northern star.

Letter to our Queer & Trans Youth
Hey, you. I thought I’d start this letter by telling you a little about myself, just so you know who you’re dealing with. I’m an emotional dad, father to three amazing kids who we met through the foster care system, and whose presence in our lives has really transformed my sense of responsibility to the communities that surround us. The connections we’ve made with one another, with our extended families, and with the communities where we live and look for belonging have catapulted us into this whirlwind of emotional tumult which, while not easy by any stretch of the measure, has also been remarkably healing. I realize ours is really only a one-sided chosen family, since our kids didn’t get to choose to live here, but I’d like to think that they did choose to let us love them, which allowed them to grow to love us. And I think that’s where I want to go with this letter- to a place where you can find belonging and healing- even if the pathway there may be peppered with some emotional tumult.
