i find myself

resting at peace in the death that follows a day

with no more to be done and nothing more to say

i can lie naked without the robes that i willingly bear

and into life's calm abyss, i can dotingly stare

thankful daylight's shadows have finally won

and the violent tocks of time have ticked away and gone

washed clean of the clutter of my inner dervish whirls

beneath billows of blossom sheets my knotted mind uncurls

whispering to my heart to share what it must confess

and effervesce in the absolution of sweet nothingness

then evaporate like a long hot summer's thunderstorm

rising into heaven in an ethereal form

all certainties crumbling into drifts of sand

as I float into the embrace of night's never-ending land

to the serenity of emptiness barren in its womb

to the infinite unconsciousness that hungrily consumes

sensationless, adrift in the warm seas of my mind

flowing with whatever muse crafts my heart's design

as hazy trails of inspiration float in upon the tide

i willingly, to their wantonness, my soul do i confide

and soak in the light and shade of their embryonic hues

and bathe in the cleansing balm of a coming day's dews

there within the oblivion of the wild and the free

i find the inimitable

unforgotten

me
