UNDERCOVER LOVERS

If we close our eyes maybe they can’t see us

UNDERCOVER LOVERS

We met when no one noticed,
And kept our feelings hid,
We knew that what we wanted,
Was something we forbid.

We met beneath the streetlights,
When everyone was gone,
We talked until the sunrise,
Then carried secrets on.

You’d send a little message,
When no one else could see,
I’d hide it from the others,
And keep it close to me.

We never spoke of future,
Or what our love could be,
We only stole our moments,
And kept them secretly.

You’d hold my hand so gently,
Then let me walk away,
We acted like two strangers,
When people passed that way.

I knew that love was dangerous,
But still I couldn’t hide,
My heart would beat much faster,
Whenever you were near.

One night you said you loved me,
And tears fell from my eyes,
Because the words felt precious,
But lived beneath disguise.

We never found our ending,
Or knew what love would do,
Some lovers live in secret,
And some just never knew.
