The Sweetness of Life

The cherry blossoms bloomed blissfully;

Spring dawned once again.

Like magic upon mortals;

Briefly forgotten in the winter, now regained.

I perched under the snow-white tapestry;

Lost in the sea of immortal Shakespearian verses.

The bard was utterly justified in claiming so.

All beauty eventually fades;

Either by experience or the passing of time.

But, her eternal beauty will not fade;

So long as she lives in my heart.

And she will do so;

Until the end of my time.

I closed my eyes in remembrance;

Grasping as the memories of old swam into my mind.

The moment I laid my eyes on her,

My heart felt everything pure and true.

As I looked into your curious eyes;

I knew I had met a part of myself,

A kindred spirit.

I held her in my arms for the very first time;

Oh, she was a beauty.

Bright almond eyes set in radiant chocolate skin;

Framed by lustrous onyx tresses.

Her voice rang like the tingle of wind chimes;

T'was the sweet music of Angels to my ears.

Yes, she was angelic;

Everything pure and good about this world.

Untarnished by the exploits of humanity;

The innocence of newborns radiated from her being.

The sight of her wiped clean my tears and my pain;

It healed me whole again.

She was a miracle;

An extraordinary miracle of life.

My little bundle of joy;

My daughter.

My hand was within hers in a firm grip;

I offered a solemn request to the heavens,

That she never let go.

But, time has a way of covertly sneaking up.

Eighteen years now;

Like fieldfares, redwings, and bramblings,

She flew to new lands in seek of adventures.

But, with the passing of time her eternal beauty will not fade;

So long as she lives within my heart.
