In the quest to discover our identity
our place, our niche, our abilities
we often forget the simplest things
You don't need to please
You don't need to trend
You don't need to shine in the eyes of others
You need to be,
By yourself and for yourself
Every flower has a place, whether it is tall and proud
or small and pale
Every creature is unique, even if we can't see why or how
Every sunset brings the dawn of a new day
Place your value on what others think of you and you will never feel happy, you will always stay wanting.
Wanting to find within you a simple truth
No one is You
No one can be you, no matter how many lookalikes you have, you are alone.
It is up to you to make your life worthwhile in your eyes, but you were always uncommon.
You were always you.

Was I a Model in Japan?
During my time in Nagoya I worked and lived at the strangely famous hostel and café Nagonoya. With its chequered floors and florescent lighting it felt quite dated, but I think that was supposed to be part of the charm. The dorms were always fully booked on weekends with domestic tourists and there was always a buzz in the downstairs café. Camera crews were constantly in and out of the place interviewing the Japanese staff members who worked the café. I think it had something to do with the egg sandwiches. At least that was what was on most of the merchandise, except for that one dishcloth with the owner’s face on it. Was I being employed by a local celebrity?
