Typing Against Time
Another Writer’s Story
We’re typing against time
It’s not a question of space
We can type till the screen goes blank
and the walls have run off to some dance
We don’t have the right amount of time
Immortality is a flawed concept
Except for Shakespeare everything will die
To Be or Not to Be will lose badly
"Not to be" will win by a landslide
We’re still sliding and sliding
We might as well enjoy the ride
-----
Why Do We Type? Because Shakespeare Will Never Die
We don’t write, we type
and when we write, we still need to type
We also record phrases and sentences
and we type them as well
Some type because they have something to type
something to see, something to hide
Others type because they have to type something
anything in some instances
as if typing was like loving
we have to love before we can type
as if typing was like sleeping
we have to sleep as well
not as often as loving
as if typing was like saying
we always have something to say
typists type all the time
as if typing was like writing
some type to live
others live to type
some type till they die
others type because they can’t write
Why do we type?
Because we will die
Everyone dies
Shakespeare will never die
as long as Brevity Is the Soul of Wit
is typed somewhere
even in someone’s twit
even as a slogan for a novice politician
even as we stop typing to drink some wine
I’ll have the Porto
you can have the white
