Within the Greek Pantheon twins area reccuring theme. Often comprising of one female and one male, they show the duallity within us all. Each pair of twins in the following poems adresses the complex relationships and dynamics. Artemis and Apollo, the gods of the moon and the sun, both complement each other's personalities. Eros and Anteros , love gods, show that loving has to be answered for it to prosper. Cassandra and Helenus, talks of the myth where Cassandra was only believed through the words of her brother, who would explain her prophesies.

Artemis and Apollo

You are born

as I settle in

all bright

and demanding

lit match

easy spark.

And I am slow

high walled

luminescent

and steadfast

motion set

ripples made.

We follow now

each other

and around

this old world

as sure as day

follows night.

Eros and Anteros

Counter me,

love and love returned

you with golden arrows tipped

and I with lead ones

which heavy bit and weight

into the matter of things

you the first strike

here I answer back.

Cassandra and Helenus (He-peating)

They believe me dear sister

as I you, though none others

have let your words fall

truth upon them so

I will speak for you

with the gifts, taught to me

by my dear sister

slowly driven mad

by disbelieving men...
