Turning In The Pit

A dark poem for Halloween

How well did you choose to live

and did you think it all thru

Did you become the kind that'll give

or did you let life taint you

To possess the greater strength of a man

and be a righteous one

Or succumb to a darker plan

and then the darkness won

There's a place for you

if you fail to find redemption before it's too late

Others will be there too

because many will face that same fate

Stretched across the fires of the pit

surviving at their vile whim

To beg for help as your flesh is ripped

like some mulling little quim

Off the rack, you'll come

a changed man you are

Ready to have some fun

again you'll take it too far

Slicing off parts of those dammed and unlucky

taking a little piece of flesh here and there

A monster you've become, like a doll named Chucky

the fires already having burned off your hair

Roaming free again, you'll find no friends

a hunt for your next victim will be

Released from the pit to bring dammed souls to their ends

your soul no longer belongs to thee

Slicing off flesh like a butcher does meat

tossing it aside like unwanted trash

Sticking in blades, blood rushing to their feet

dropping their corpses brazen and brash

You fit in, in the darkness

around those people, you blend

So many lives a harsh mess

you can see their coming end

Escaping the bars

avoiding the price

your life as a demon

it's been not so nice
