Turn the Page

Soul to Soul

By Cindy CalderPublished 12 months ago Updated 11 months ago 1 min read

Turn the page

In the book of life

To a time

When love was ours

To hold fast and true.

*

Turn the page

And mark the day

When you said yes

To now and all time

With only me.

*

Turn the page

To read the tale

Of a life we wove

Amid each tear

And tick of joy.

*

Turn the page

And see the art

We drew as one

As we felt the joy

Of what was us.

*

Turn the page

And see our hair

Turn gray and dull,

Our eyes grow dim,

Our walk grow slow.

*

Turn the page

And see me weep

On a day so sad

When we are no more

And only one is left.

*

Turn the page

And mark it well:

My love for you will

Defy an end

On this orb.

*

Turn the page

And feel the vast love

For only you that will run

Deep in me 'til we meet anew,

Soul to soul.

Such a beautiful and sweet poem. I really enjoyed reading this.

This is amazing. I just submitted a poem to this challenge and was disliking the constraint, thinking it made everything too jilty, that not much could be well expressed through four letter words. Then I read this. You proved me wrong. It is beautiful, it says wonderfully things, and if you didn’t know about this challenge, you likely wouldn’t even notice the short words. Fantastic.
