Turkey Hunter

a poem

art by me

Sweet scent of oil

And shoes ill fitting

Velcro strapped tight

And I won’t be sitting

Much

Double socked up

Will still crush my toe

Give me one second

It’s my turn to throw

Search through the balls

Stick my fingers in the

holes

Step to the line

It’s time to rock and

roll

One step

Two step

Three step

Release

Another errant throw

I’ll just blame it on the grease

Gutter ball, gutter ball

Three pins, strike

Gutter ball, gutter ball

I can do this all night

More animated than the

     cartoons on the screen

Check the scoreboard

I’m the double digit king

  pin

Didn’t lose

Didn’t win

Gonna need Aleve for the pain I’ll be in
