Trilogy of Death

A Vision

I had a dream, a prophecy in sleep

A nightmare it would seem,

One I wish fate would not keep.

A flash of light, burning, blinding, bright.

A moment to doubt,

Then cries of shame, terror and pain.

For life had reached its height.

Death permeated the air, an inferno-

From careless indifference and minds so bare.

For the city of Peace lie in ruins-

A memorial for man’s achievement,

Dust to dust and ashes to ashes,

But no one left for bereavement-

For disembodied is man, disrobed of all his pride.

For now, he lies in blood, shipwrecked and a castaway,

Vexed by the waves that rack his mind…

Endlessly by the eternal thoughts,

of forsaken peace, of war that could never,

of the glory that could have been

of fate’s hand and the evil that resides in man.

The nightmare ends with the breaking of dawn

Fresh light sends a new song and a vision of a heavenly prayer

And so, it was….

Implements of war,

Sculptured pain,

Seeds of wrath

from man’s cursed domain
