Tree Tattoos
Childhood Memories
I carved with love, my name, into that bark
like I was leaving a tattoo
The ones I also etched into my heart
Root to stem it played a part
A playmate every afternoon
I carved my name with love, into that bark
I feel like a sapling start
That grew a foot that day, in June
The ones I also etched into my heart
Standing strong beneath the stars
Gently tracing every groove
I carved my name with love, into that bark
Making sure she understood, on me, she also made a mark
We proudly wore our love, within view
The ones I also etched into my heart
No matter where I roam, we will never be apart
That’s what a childhood memories are supposed to do
I carved my name with love, into that bark
The ones I also etched into my heart
