Tree Cries

We need trees for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that they absorb the carbon dioxide we exhale and the heat-trapping greenhouse gases that human activities emit.

ο»Ώ

A tree stands tall, in the morning light,

Her branches reaching up, towards the sky so bright,

And on those branches, she holds her birds so dear,

Singing songs of joy, that we all love to hear.

But as the day wears on, the birds take flight,

Leaving the tree alone, to endure the night,

And as the moon rises high, and the stars appear,

The tree begins to weep, with a heart full of fear.

For though her birds will return, with the coming dawn,

The tree cannot help but feel, so sad and forlorn,

She longs to feel their warmth, and hear their sweet song,

To hold them close and keep them safe, all day long.

So the tree cries for her birds, with a gentle sigh,

And the tears that fall from her leaves, shimmer and dry,

But the birds will hear her call, and they will return,

To nestle in her branches, and in her love they'll burn.

For though the tree may weep, with a heart full of pain,

She knows that her birds will come back, again and again,

And in the shelter of her boughs, they'll find their rest,

And the tree will hold them close, forever blessed.

Ah birds and trees, aside from all the ecological benefits where would we be without their song and shade? Lovely writing Safeera!
