Travel to the Mountain and Shout
A poem that places a face on Coronavirus #4
Life is a journey
Exploring the unknown
Revisiting memories
While following a map
Sometimes,
Forging new roads
Then came COVID
Altering my travels
Like a thick permanent marker
Charting a new route
On life's atlas
Blurring the lines
Eventually leaking
Depositing black ink blots
Blocking a clear alternative
Unable to plot a course
Life became a broken
Compass
without direction
Closing doors to adventure
Each day moved like a
Hungry leopard
Alone
Uncontrollable, searching
progressing quietly, discreetly
Silently
Searching for freedom
Even the chicken was allowed
to cross the road
And sardines move in schools
But the pandemic creates isolation
I await the day I will travel
To the foot of the mountain
Climb to the top and scream
"EQUALITY!"
Wake up World
We can do this together
- Glyn, 64-year-old female
I met Glyn on a Facebook page for retired teachers. She volunteered to participate in a project to put a face on COVID. These are her thoughts formed into a poem.
