The Rise of Terry Ringer
In the heart of the 90s, a talk show was born,
With drama and chaos, it would leave you torn.
The stage was set, the lights were bright,
As the crew prepared for the very first night.
Terry Ringer, the man of the hour,
With a twinkle in his eye and a whole lot of power.
He strutted around with a swagger so bold,
As the audience waited, eager to behold.
The guests were lined up, each with a tale to tell,
Of love gone wrong and secrets from hell.
A jilted lover, a long-lost twin,
The drama was about to begin.
The stagehands scurried, the tension was high,
As they prepped for the chaos that was soon to fly.
The cameras were rolling, the audience roared,
As Terry stepped out, the crowd adored.
He welcomed the guests with a grin so sly,
Knowing the drama would reach an all-time high.
The first guest stormed out with fire in her eyes,
Ready to air her ex's dirty lies.
Next up was a man with a shocking reveal,
His secret life was about to unseal.
The audience gasped, the tension was real,
As chaos erupted, it was quite the ordeal.
The bleeps were blaring, the fists were flying,
As the security team was busy trying
To calm the guests down, restore some peace,
But this was the 90s, drama never ceased.
The crowd was on edge, the drama was rife,
As Terry Ringer navigated the stormy life.
He mediated the madness with a cool, calm demeanor,
As the audience watched, their excitement couldn't be keener.
With each wild revelation and heated dispute,
The show gained momentum, it was quite a hoot.
The first episode wrapped with a standing ovation,
A new era of trash TV, a nationwide sensation.
And so, the legacy of Terry Ringer was born,
A talk show phenomenon, wild and torn.
The drama, the laughter, the tears, and the fights,
Defined an era with unforgettable nights.

A Flower Song
Apparently the Aztecs, Toltecs, Chichimecs and other Mexica were crazy about poetry. Despite the book-burning, slaughter, and epidemics that characterized the early stages of the Spanish conquest of the empires of Mexico, some hundreds of poems from the height of their tradition come down to us in Classical Nahuatl, preserved by Nahua and Spanish scholars of the 16th century. One of the most famous poets, Nezahualcoyotl, was a sage-king who opposed the cult of human sacrifice associated with Tezcatlipoca, God of the Smoking Mirror, and favored Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent. Flowers and feathers were the favorite offering of the Plumed Serpent. Moreover, flowers and feathers are a metaphor for poetry. Individual words, scattered petals, the down of tropical birds. The temples of blood sacrifice could be transformed into temples of flower and song. A sublimated offering to the Heart of Earth and the Heart of Sky encapsulated in the Classical Nahuatl kenning for poetry: in xōchitl in cuīcatl, meaning, "the flower and the song." Standing Still
There are very few moments in life where time truly stands still. When your breath is taken from your chest and your body hangs weightless in that moment. Just long enough for it to stay with you from that day onwards. Deep in the red sands of the Australian Outback, I found that moment and clung to it forever.
